1. Introduction

Welcome to BabyNest (“the App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). BabyNest is a baby tracking application for iOS, developed and maintained by an independent developer.

We take your privacy seriously — especially when it comes to data about your child. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that information. BabyNest was designed with a privacy-first approach: all your data stays on your device.

By downloading, installing, or using BabyNest, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you use BabyNest, you may enter the following information into the App:

Child Profile Data: Child name, date of birth, and optionally a photo. Date of birth is used to compute age and gate age-appropriate features.
Sleep Entries: Start time, end time, classification (nap or bedtime), and notes.
Feeding Entries: Breastfeeding session timings (start time, left/right side durations, pause intervals), bottle volume and unit, and solids food items.
Diaper Entries: Log type (wet, dirty, mixed), stool color and consistency, and timestamp.
App Settings: Your preferences for language, country, and notification options.

2.2 Information We Do NOT Collect

BabyNest does not collect, access, or process:

Location data or GPS coordinates
Analytics, usage, or behavioral data
Device identifiers for tracking purposes
Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
Contacts or address book information
Apple Health (HealthKit) data
Browsing history or web activity
Any biometric data

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

BabyNest does not automatically collect any information. There are no analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or third-party data collection tools in the App.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

3.1 Local-Only Storage

All data you enter into BabyNest is stored exclusively on your device. The App uses Apple's SwiftData framework to maintain a local on-device database. Specifically:

No data is transmitted to any server, cloud service, or remote database.
No data is sent to the Developer or any third party.
No data leaves your device during normal App operation.

3.2 Device Backups

Your BabyNest data may be included in standard iOS device backups (iCloud Backup or local backups via Finder). These backups are governed by Apple's privacy practices and your own backup settings.

3.3 watchOS Companion

If you use the optional watchOS companion app, action commands are sent from your Apple Watch to your iPhone via WatchConnectivity. No data is stored on the Watch — it is a thin client only. All data remains on your iPhone.

BabyNest does not share, sell, rent, or disclose your personal data to any third party. There are no third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or data brokers integrated into the App.

The App relies on Apple-provided services (SwiftData, WatchConnectivity, ActivityKit for Live Activities), which are governed by Apple's own privacy policies.

5. Children's Privacy

5.1 Nature of the App

BabyNest is designed for use by parents and caregivers to track data about their children aged 0–3. The App is not directed at children themselves and is not intended for use by minors.

5.2 Baby Data

Parents and caregivers enter data on behalf of their child. This data (name, date of birth, tracking entries) is stored exclusively on the parent's device and is never transmitted or accessible to the Developer.

5.3 COPPA Compliance

Because the App does not collect information directly from children, does not transmit any data off the device, and all child data is entered and controlled entirely by an adult user, the App's practices are consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

6. Health Data

6.1 Informational Only

BabyNest tracks sleep, feeding, and diaper data for informational parenting purposes. The App provides context such as stool color references and age-appropriate feature suggestions. This is informational only — not medical advice.

6.2 Not a Medical Device

BabyNest is not a medical device and is not regulated as such under EU MDR 2017/745, the U.S. FDA, or any equivalent regulatory body. Always consult your pediatrician for health concerns about your child.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

Right of Access: You can view all your data within the App at any time.
Right to Rectification: You can edit any entry or profile in the App.
Right to Erasure: You can delete individual entries, child profiles, or all data via Settings.
Right to Data Portability: You can export your tracking history as a CSV file from Settings.
Right to Restriction of Processing: You can stop using the App or delete it entirely at any time.

Because all data is stored locally and the Developer has no access to it, you are effectively both the data subject and the data controller for information stored within the App.

8. Data Export & Deletion

8.1 Export

BabyNest includes a CSV export feature. When you use this feature, the exported file is generated locally on your device and shared using iOS's standard share sheet. The Developer does not receive a copy of any exported data.

8.2 Deletion

You may delete your data at any time by:

Deleting individual entries or child profiles within the App.
Using “Delete All Data” in Settings, which permanently removes all entries, profiles, and resets the App.
Uninstalling the App from your device, which removes all locally stored App data.

9. Third-Party Services

As of the effective date of this policy, BabyNest does not integrate with or rely on any third-party services beyond those provided by Apple (SwiftData, WatchConnectivity, ActivityKit, App Store distribution).

10. Future Features

A future version of BabyNest may introduce optional iCloud sync to allow data sharing between devices and co-parenting. If implemented, this feature will be:

Strictly opt-in. The App will continue to work fully in local-only mode.
Transparent. This Privacy Policy will be updated before any cloud feature launches.
Consent-based. You will be asked to explicitly enable sync and will understand what data is shared.

Until such a feature is implemented and you choose to enable it, no data will leave your device.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide notice through the App. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance.
